Rik Mayall Comedy Festival Planned for hometown

A plan has been hatched to stage a comedy pageant within the residence city of Rik Mayall.

Mayall grew up in Droitwich Spa and made a few of his earliest stage appearances on the Norbury Theatre. One look was in a manufacturing of Beckett’s Ready For Godot, directed by his father John.

The influential comic died ten years in the past on the age of 56 and the hope is that the pageant will launch in 2025. 

The concept comes from native councillor Richard Morris.

Mayall discovered fame within the Nineteen Eighties in reveals corresponding to The Younger Ones, The Comedian Strip Presents and Filthy, Wealthy and Catflap. Tonight the Gold Channel is screening a brand new documentary about his sitcom Backside, through which he co-starred together with his common associate Ade Edmondson.
