Wimbledon 2024: Alexandrova out, Emma Raducanu to face Zarazua
Emma Raducanu will play Renata Zarazua within the opening spherical of Wimbledon on Monday as twenty second seed Ekaterina Alexandrova pulled out of the match with an sickness.
The previous US Open winner was introduced to play Alexandrova in the principle draw. Zarazua — the fortunate loser — will change her and play Raducanu on Centre Courtroom.
Raducanu has had a profitable run going into her first Wimbledon match, making the semifinals in Nottingham and the quarterfinals in Eastbourne. She took her first win towards a top-10 participant in June, successful towards Jessica Pegula.
The meet-up between Zarazua and Raducanu marks the Brit’s return to the grass-court Slam after having undergone surgical procedure on each wrists and her ankle in 2023.
Zarazua misplaced to McCartney Kessler in qualifying however was chosen as a fortunate loser to switch Alexandrova. She made it into the 2024 French Open however misplaced within the first spherical at Roland Garros.
