Ratan Tata – Coventry City Council
Coventry Metropolis Council notes with appreciable remorse the loss of life of the Indian industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata – an honorary freeman of the town – on 9 October.
Mr Tata, who led the group bearing his household title for 21 years, and through that point the corporate acquired Jaguar Land Rover in 2008, helped to safe the way forward for such an essential regional model and created hundreds of jobs throughout his chairmanship.
Town made Mr Tata a freeman of the town in 2015 in recognition of the funding of Tata Metal into Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) which enhanced and guarded the standing of automobile manufacturing within the area, the JLR model and notably the employment of its workers and plenty of subsidy suppliers, supported by the Warwick Manufacturing Group.
Council chief Cllr George Duggins expressed his private and the town’s unhappiness: “Ratan Tata was an incredible buddy of the area and of the town specifically.
“By means of his help to regenerate Jaguar Land Rover, his function in establishing the Nationwide Automotive Innovation Centre on the College of Warwick, his contribution to Coventry’s assured regeneration cannot be underestimated.
“I’ve written to the Tata household to pay the respects of the council and all its residents to titan of the enterprise world.”
