Michael Newberry (1997-2024) | IFA
It was with disappointment that the Irish Soccer Affiliation discovered of the passing of former Northern Eire Underneath-21 worldwide Michael Newberry.
Michael received caps for his nation at each U21 and U19 stage.
The 27-year-old defender, who was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, began his profession with hometown membership Newcastle United and in addition had a spell in Iceland with Vikingur earlier than he joined Linfield in January 2021.
He scored six targets in 89 appearances for the Blues, and he received two Irish Premiership titles and an Irish Cup in his three years with the south Belfast membership.
The defender moved throughout the town and signed for Cliftonville in July, making 25 appearances for the Reds.
The affiliation’s ideas and prayers are together with his household, associates and team-mates at this unhappy time.
