Jury discharged in trial of Constance Marten and Mark Gordon over death of their newborn baby | UK News

The jury within the trial of Constance Marten and her associate Mark Gordon has been discharged after failing to succeed in verdicts.

Marten, 37, who’s from a rich household, and Gordon, 50, had been charged over the dying of their new child child daughter Victoria.

They had been every charged with manslaughter by gross negligence, inflicting or permitting the dying of a kid, concealing the start of a kid, youngster cruelty and perverting the course of justice.

Each deny wrongdoing.

Jurors had been earlier given a majority route after deliberating for some 60 hours. Decide Mark Lucraft KC mentioned he would settle for verdicts on which 9 of the 10-strong jury had been agreed.

Jurors started deliberating on 30 April, however on Wednesday had been discharged after greater than 72 hours of deliberation.

The trial started on the Previous Bailey on 25 January.

A nationwide seek for Marten and Gordon was launched after a placenta was discovered within the couple’s burnt-out automobile on a motorway in Bolton, Better Manchester, in January 2023.

It culminated within the couple’s arrests in Brighton final February, with the kid’s physique discovered days afterwards.
