Former Hove MP arrested – Brighton and Hove News

The previous Labour MP for Hove, Ivor Caplin, was arrested right this moment (Saturday 11 January) after a sting by paedophile hunters.

The sting was live-streamed on Fb and additional footage of the arrest was shared on-line.

Sussex Police stated: “We’re conscious of footage circulating on social media displaying a person in Brighton being detained on suspicion of partaking in on-line sexual communications with a toddler.

“Officers can verify {that a} native 66-year-old man was arrested on Saturday January 11 and at present stays in custody.

“That is an ongoing and energetic investigation.”

A confrontation with Mr Caplin, a former defence minister, was livestreamed on Fb, lasting half-hour and attracting greater than 36,000 views and three,000 feedback.

It’s understood to have taken place close to Hove railway station and additional footage of his arrest, on the similar location, was equally shared on-line.

Mr Caplin is known to disclaim any wrongdoing.
