Ian Martin is unfair on velocity consciousness course leaders when he compares Keir Starmer “droning on” in a leaders’ debate to them (Betting, vetting and the return of Huge Canine: the weirdest election marketing campaign ever is just getting weirder, 21 June). I attended one such course a couple of years in the past, and other than being disabused of the concept that males had been the primary culprits in exceeding velocity limits (numbers within the room had been an excellent cut up between the sexes), I spent a pleasant afternoon being entertained by two course leaders, whose sardonic wit helped reinforce the intense message. I did say to them that they’d missed careers as standup comedians.
